Adjunct Flute Instructor & Lecturer, Frostburg State UniversityPrivate

"Anyone can take music lessons and acquire its benefits on both the mind and soul!"

Whether I am guiding my students through their first steps of learning the art of music, helping them rekindle with their instrument or further master their craft as college music majors and minors, it brings me immense joy to step into the role of an educator and become their partner in achievement.

At the core of my philosophy lies the belief that as teachers we are role models and mentors. We are here to pass on the torch of our knowledge and show our students how to be curious, self-sufficient, and their own best teachers. As I am confident that resilience and consistency are the forces behind a sustainable professional career, I help them unlock their highest potential. Embracing their unique personality, I aim to foster a positive and well-rounded learning environment that instils confidence and self-love, inspires motivation, and respects their individuality and dreams.

As a dedicated pedagogue and clinician, I have experience coaching chamber ensembles, teaching music business and entrepreneurship, leading general classroom music history courses, and working with young and collegiate musicians, including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra OrchKids, Harrisburg Symphony Youth Orchestra, West Virginia University, University of Florida, Indiana State University, Slippery Rock University, West Liberty University, Baltimore School of the Arts and Western High School in Baltimore, to name a few. I have presented workshops and led masterclasses at the conventions of the National Flute Association, International Flute Symposium at WVU, The Flute Society of Philadelphia, and The Flute Society of Washington, and I have further served my profession as an adjudicator, including the DoDea Europe East Middle School Honors, The Flute Society of Washington Collegiate and Masterclass Competitions and Howard County Secondary Solo and Flute Ensemble Festival.

For the past fourteen years, I have been teaching beginner piano lessons, flute, and as of recently fife, to students of all ages, levels, cultural and educational backgrounds. My students have went on to perform with youth symphony orchestras, win jobs as music and band teachers, and receive music scholarships and honors during their studies. My studio is open to tiny humans as young as three years old, and to adults as young as the age they feel, including students looking for specialized teaching based on their needs. Lessons can be delivered in Greek, German, and English.

I am currently based in Morgantown, WV. If you are interested in lessons, you will find me teaching at West Virginia University Community Music Program, University of Florida, through the FlutePlay community, and my own private studio both virtually and in person.

Lessons can be delivered virtually upon request. For high-quality remote lessons, I use a professional ZOOM H6N microphone, high-speed internet, and deliver lessons through the ZOOM platform.

Testimonials
We have loved lessons with Dr. Eftihia Arkoudis! Our daughter has blossomed and not only is beginning to read music at the age of 4, but she is LOVING playing piano! She loves Dr. Arkoudis and looks forward to lessons every week. Moreover, lessons lately have been a much-needed constant in a very inconsistent world. The lessons are really phenomenal quality and reflects both her talent and teaching ability, as well as what her lessons in all this crazy pandemic have meant to our family. I can’t tell you what it’s meant to us to have the consistency and musical outlet that regular lessons with such an incredible teacher have provided.
— Carisa, Mother
When my 5 years old son, Ammar, wanted to learn to play the flute, I looked for someone with credentials and achievements in teaching music. My search led to Miss Eftihia. Soon after we started, I found that Miss Eftihia went way beyond professionalism; with patience, she gave Ammar the freedom to dance and jump while playing the flute. Now, my youngest son Ayan, who turned 4 years old, started piano lessons with Miss Eftihia. Again, she has aligned her manners to Ayan’s personality and guided him to be my cutest pianist. Miss Eftihia teaches with love and joy and helps her little learners feel and enjoy the music they play. With her creative rules and approaches, my boys play their music and cheer us throughout the days
— Rawaa, Mother
I appreciate Dr. Arkoudis believing in me throughout my undergraduate studies. I have used so many of the exercises and practice tips that we worked on together in my own teaching. I cannot thank her enough for the wonderful experiences she has given me.
— Frostburg State University Alum
My son, who had never played or studied music before, was able to play the piano in a matter of months. Ms. Eftihia is a lovable teacher whose patience and diligence shines through in everything she does.
— Eri, Mother
I feel so fortunate to have Dr. Arkoudis as my daughter’s flute teacher. Her combination of caring and confidence building mixed with having solid expectations of her students is what exemplifies a wonderful music teacher. Even though this is my daughter’s first year on flute, she gives her the opportunity to explore the music and the instrument by teaching her to create her own songs. My daughter is making a real connection to learning and loving the flute through Dr. Arkoudis.
— Beth, Mother

FROSTBURG FLUTES GUEST ARTIST SERIES

In March 2020, I launched the inaugural Frostburg Flutes Guest Artist Series as a vehicle to inspire my college students to remain creative and maintain human connection, while meaningfully engaging with their education during the unprecedent times of the pandemic. The masterclass series was active for a total of three years, during which period it hosted sixteen (16) international artists and music educators - all experts in their respective fields - who have worked with my students in a masterclass and workshop setting. The sessions have been open to musicians and members of the community from around the world, welcoming close to fifty (50) auditors from Greece, Canada, United States, Germany, and England.
